Laura Elisa Pérez is an Associate Professor
in the department of Ethnic Studies, and an affiliated faculty member
of the departments of Theater, Dance, and Performance, and Women's Studies.
She is the author of the recently published Chicana Art: The Politics
of Spiritual and Aesthetic Altarities. She is an Ethnic Studies feminist
scholar whose work focuses primarily on decolonizing theories and cultural
practices centered in feminist and queer people of color's perspectives
in the struggle for justice. She has focused in particular on decolonizing
forms of spirituality as these emerge through the arts of U.S. Latina/os.
